True Blue by boygenius was one of those songs that just spoke to me. I felt the lyrics and thought about those I love the most.
humans need connection.
For this piece, my goal was to focus on the genuine contentment and emotional serenity that comes with intimate human connection. Not only in the romantic sense, but the platonic and familial sense. My emphasis on human connection has always been one of the major driving factors in my work.
Chicken-scratching my ideas into some kind of spiderweb-mind-map opens me up to a wide variety of subjects and more nuanced topics that I wouldn't have initially considered. I've found it helps me deepen the meaning of my work and better understand what I'm creating, and more importantly why I'm creating it.

I wanted this piece to have a strong emotional effect on the viewer by mimicking a scrapbook/memory box. It should feel as though they are sifting through someone’s life through photographs, objects, and other collected junk.
I was able to hunt down a lot of my parent's and grandparents old mementos and keepsakes. What I didn't anticipate were the conversations that sparked from seeing old photographs and seemingly insignificant objects!
I love incorporating hand-drawn animation from procreate, because I feel like it gives everything such a tactile texture. It loosens up the confines of the stop motion or vector graphics and gives off a young, playful, approachable vibe.
