zamboni micro-interactions
ui elements made for a larger project, Rink Refreshers (coming soon!) : an interactive experience to help inform young ice rink attendees about the functionality of ice resurfacers and encourage safety and caution around them in a fun and entertaining way.
let's back up to the beginning: what on earth is a zamboni?
You may have seen one if you ever watch hockey games or ice skating events! A Zamboni (the commonly used brand name for an ice resurfacer) is a ~6,000 lb. machine that shaves off a thin layer of ice, collects the shavings, and then spreads a layer of water that freezes to create a smooth surface for skating.
detour: i've been driving a zamboni at my college rink for 2 years now!
Do I have experience with hydraulic machinery? Nope.
Do I play hockey? Or have significant history with it? Nope.
Do I even remotely enjoy watching hockey? A little bit I guess.
So why on earth did I learn how to drive a Zamboni?
Because I wanted to prove that I could.
If I can convince myself I can do something, I'll get it done just to prove to myself that I'm right.
